The AFCEA NOVA Adopt-a-School Program provides local schools with funding, resources, and personnel to improve hands-on scientific education. Program volunteers provide teachers, administrators and students with practical guidance, daily experiences, and project mentoring support as needed. There are currently 14 local elementary and high schools in AFCEA NOVA’s Adopt-a-School Program.

Get Involved with the Adopt-a-School Program

AFCEA NOVA is actively looking for volunteers to assist with the Adopt-a-School Program. Volunteers will provide teachers, administrators, and students with practical guidance, knowledge, and project mentoring support as needed. Specific duties include:
  • Serving as the POC for an assigned school
  • Working to learn the needs of the school
  • Recruiting other AFCEA members to work with the school
  • Providing guidance to recruited AFCEA members
  • Ensuring that their assigned schools’ teachers are aware of available opportunities (Science Teaching Tools and Scholarships)
  • Developing a library of reusable resource materials and website links
  • And more

STEM Scholarship Application Open

The AFCEA NOVA Educational Foundation awards a significant number of annual merit-based scholarships to qualified students who are pursuing degrees in STEM technical fields supportive of our national security.
