The AFCEA NOVA EAGLE Mentoring Program pairs Young AFCEANs with leaders in industry and government in a four month mentoring program. A mentoring relationship based on mutual trust and respect is an effective way to help people progress in their careers with numerous benefits for the proteges and the mentors.
The theme of this year's program is: Mentoring Moments — how to recognize, create, and curate your Mentorship story
Who: Any AFCEA member can apply.
- Protégés will be assigned to Mentors after the first networking event based on
mutual selection. Successful relationships typically share common industry
interests, work location, and/or company size.
- Participants will set goals and work towards achieving those goals by the end of

February 27, 2018 | 4:00pm - 6:00pm: Mentor Discovery at the EscapeArtistDC
March 27, 2018 | 5:30pm - 7:30pm: Unconcious Bias training at Appian Reston (dinner provided)
April 25, 2018 | 4:00pm - 6:00pm: Reverse Mentor training, location TBD, snacks will be provided
May 22, 2018 | 4:00pm - 6:00pm: Program Retrospective at a local winery (dinner provided)
In addition, Participants must commit to meeting once every month for our
meetings and additional 1:1 meetings planned throughout the four months.
Cost : Must pay in full prior to the first event.

What is EAGLE?
E – Enablement (enabling young members and transitioning service members to succeed in this industry)
A – Activity (activity based mentoring – meetings, networking events, AFCEA NOVA events, trade shows, meetings – setting the example)
G – Goals (mentoring program is goal based – the mentor helps their protégé to achieve something significant in their career)
L – Lessons (the mentor shares their life lessons to guide the protégé)
E – Engagement (the program helps protégés get better engaged with AFCEA NOVA)
What’s in store for the EAGLE program this year? This year we have a VERY exciting program! We are planning the following: Escape room, Unconscious bias training, Reverse Mentoring, and final retrospective event.
